Marisa Tomei might not be finished playing Aunt May in the MCU.

On The Tonight Show,  Marisa Tomei shared that it’s possible another Aunt May exists in the multiverse.

Specifically, her Aunt May.

After all, Rosemary Harris was Aunt May in Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man trilogy. Furthermore, Sally Field portrayed Aunt May in Andrew Garfield’s two Spider-Man movies.

Marisa Tomei was May Parker to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. She played Aunt May from Captain America: Civil War to Spider-Man: No Way Home.

When the MCU introduced Marisa Tomei as the next Aunt May, fans were thrilled. In the comics, Aunt May doesn’t appear to be so young, to put it simply. It was refreshing. Fans accepted her with open arms as they saw her portrayal to be the endearing aunt to Peter Parker (Tom Holland). The aunt that is trying to keep everything together with the underlying sadness of losing her husband so tragically. She cares for Parker while keeping her cool.

In Spider-Man: No Way Home, she showed how much of a strong woman she is in helping the web-slinger face his greatest challenge yet.

Aunt May is one of those characters that centered Parker. If not for the other Spider-Mans, Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) and MJ (Zendaya), he would have undoubtedly gone to a dark path when he lost her. He would have drowned in guilt much like what the two other Spider-Men have gone through.

Her version of Uncle Ben’s line about “great power comes with great responsibility” has an addition of “That is what we do.” Somehow, it added action to the reminder. It added the push to be responsible because of the power one wields.

This is important for Holland’s Spider-Man. By the end of the film, he decided to be alone.

He chose to give the gift of anonymity to his friends for their own safety. He kept the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man separate from the ones he loves most because it is for their peace.

There are quite a number of ways on how Aunt May can come back to the MCU for future projects down the line.

One of these would be through flashbacks. Another would be a separate feature or series on events prior to her passing and third would be a variant or a What If…? scenario.

It’d be truly interesting if MCU gives a continued story arc about Aunt May a “go.” Marisa Tomei shines as Aunt May. Much of what Aunt May fights for can also be heroic.

Because that is what she does.
