The artifact in Lucasfilm’s next Indiana Jones has possibly been revealed.
According to a new report, Indiana Jones 5 could be centered around a stone that has the power to travel through time.
This would make this the franchise’s craziest installment yet.
From the lost Ark of the Covenant, to the Sankara Stones, to the Holy Grail and finally to the Crystal Skull, all of the Indiana Jones movies have had their own unique artifact.
Furthermore, they drive each of the film’s plots for cinema’s most famous archeologist to go in search for.
Once the fifth film (which is now filming in the U.K.) was officially announced by Disney back in 2016 following the studio’s acquisition of Lucasfilm, it was a given that Indiana Jones’ next and possibly final adventure will feature a new artifact for him to uncover.

The leak explained that:
This time around, Harrison Ford’s iconic character will be chasing a stone that powers a time machine built by the Nazis. Apparently, the artifact is likely to have a name and hopefully a tie to history.
The article pointed out that the stone’s name is not yet known.
The report added that:
It sounds as though this stone is needed to make the time machine the Nazis built run. Based on that, and based on the previous films, it may be that both Indiana Jones and the Nazis will be looking for this stone at the same time.

Set photos from the film have revealed that Nazis will be involved in the story and will no doubt cause trouble for Indiana Jones.
Lucasfilm hasn’t announced when this this movie takes place as the previous entry in the franchise, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, was set after WWII.
Indiana Jones 5 could be a prequel that takes place before Crystal Skull much like what Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom did with Raiders of the Lost Ark.
On the other hand, it’s possibly set after Crystal Skull and will involve Nazi loyalists hoping to create a time machine with this stone to change the outcome of the war, resulting in their victory.
Only time will tell what Disney and Lucasfilm has in store for iconic character in what looks to be his final adventure.
However it turns out, it will be a happy day for fans to see Ford with his whip and fedora one last time.
