Report Henry Cavill Signs On For Justice League 2

Henry Cavill will no longer be Superman, but his possible replacement is opening the eyes of fans, especially in new fan art. Granted, there is a segment of justifiably angry DC followers who will likely not approve of any actor wearing the cape.

If Henry Cavill had been given the chance to finish his arc, it would’ve been a different story.

Alas, Henry Cavill’s Black Adam cameo and subsequent announcement that he’s back as the Man of Steel caused serious damage with DC Studios’ reputation. Certainly, the previous Walter Hamada regime didn’t earn the trust of both DC followers and general audiences with poorly received movies like Birds of Prey, Wonder Woman 1984, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

The Superman: Legacy cast search has reportedly found its front runner for Clark Kent in David Corenswet. Without a doubt, Corenswet looks like Superman. In fact, if you mashed the younger faces of previous Superman actors Tom Welling and Cavill, you’ll end up with Corenswet.

To make it more vivid, recent fan art throws Superman’s costume on Corenswet.

If he doesn’t get the role, it’d be a shock.

The wheels are in motion on James Gunn’s DCU with his upcoming Superman reboot being the first to take off. Superman: Legacy was announced by Gunn during the official reveal of his first chapter of DCU films and TV shows. In addition, a script for the new Superman movie is already written and production is set to begin in January 2024.

Now all that’s left to do is find the cast.

Many people are still reeling over the unfortunate dismissal of Henry Cavill as Superman so soon after confirming his return. Following Black Adam, it seemed that Henry Cavill’s Superman was here to stay. Sadly, this wasn’t the case as Gunn confirmed he intends to cast a younger actor for his movie.

As a result of this news, interest for this reboot fell to an all-time low. Nonetheless, the success of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has sparked a significant boost in faith for Superman: Legacy. Gunn’s Marvel Studios swan song is now amongst the highest-rated comic-book movies ever made. Thus, this has led insiders to believe that the Man of Steel’s next theatrical outing is in safe hands.

Casting for Superman: Legacy is currently underway with thousands of hopeful actors auditioning to portray the iconic superhero. Apparently the search could soon be over. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the casting for Superman has been narrowed down.

Known for his role in the 2022 horror film Pearl, actor Corenswet has reportedly advanced to test screening stage. On first glance you can tell that Corenswet certainly has the perfect look for Superman.

However, looks aren’t everything; he still needs to prove he has the acting skills to back it up. Walking in the footsteps of the late Christopher Reeve and Henry Cavill will be a tremendous challenge.

He also has competition.

Deadline’s Justin Kroll has come out and claimed that Nicholas Hoult is also up for the role of Superman. Nicholas Hoult portrayed Beast in four of 20th Century Fox’s X-Men adventures.

He once auditioned to play Batman in Matt Reeves’ recent reboot but the role ultimately went to Robert Pattinson. It seems that Hoult is determined to join the DC Universe in any shape or form.

Everything is riding on Superman: Legacy. Writer/director Gunn has to knock it out of the park. After all, this is Superman, one of the most recognizable superheroes in the world besides Batman and Spider-Man.

Just as important, Superman: Legacy is the true launching pad of the DCU. If it flops, why the cinematic makeover then?

Superman has to soar just like he does in this art.
