Game of Thrones director Neil Marshall lands the action/horror series Nightshade. In addition, Marshall directs the pilot and is among the show runners.

Rather than picking up an existing franchise, Neil Marshall answers the call for all-new content.

There is no doubt that Nightshade will be something viewers will look forward to. After all, Neil Marshall’s track record for drama, horror and action raises expectations. Specifically, his 2005 movie The Descent acquired critical praise. Moreover, the director gained a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for his work on the Game of Thrones installment, “The Watchers on the Wall,” in 2014. In addition, Marshall also directed the “Blackwater” episode in 2012.

Marshall partners with writer Simon Uttley as Nightshade‘s show runners. Notably, 108 Media will develop and produce the show through representatives Abhi Rastogi, Justin Deimen, and Rod Smith as their fellow executive producers.

Reportedly, the newest horror-action series will have six episodes. They are each about an hour long. Moreover, the series takes place in 18th century England. Primarily, the series introduces a new heroine, Lizzie Monroe. Monroe is half-English and half-Indian who transforms into the defiant outlaw Nightshade. Apart from her pursuits, she means to rescue her brother from The Veil. In turn, The Veil is a treacherous underworld realm where evil beings reside. And, among these beings are werewolves, demons and warlocks.

Apparently, Monroe’s brother fell into the hands of a monstrous Satanic cult. Then, the cult took her brother’s life and now she means to take revenge. The cult consists of powerful sinister men who move the society through politics, religion and industry. Despite the fact that the cult has slain her brother, somehow, they find their way to each other. Throughout their journey, the Monroes find out that a bigger war is coming. The supernatural encounters open to a larger conflict between humanity and forces of darkness.

Truly, the story is truly right up Marshall’s alley. As the lead character works her way through the dark streets and nooks of 18th century England, she comes into contact with the treacherous dark side of the world. We can already see it to be like the flow of The Descent story line. The story where the group of adventurers suddenly come in the circle of unknown life-threatening creatures.
