The sequel to Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel might have a different title. In other words, there’s a chance it won’t be called Man of Steel 2.
It’s been five years since we last saw Henry Cavill’s Superman on the silver screen. And it’s been close to a decade since Man of Steel.
Warner Bros. has been questionable in their release of DCEU-related films. To the point that fans are wondering if DC Films actually focuses on making DCEU movies. Especially with their decision on making Matt Reeves’ The Batman and Todd Phillips’ Joker films. Certainly, they are good films. But pushing a Batman and Joker movies that are not part of the DCEU and to each other makes us question what they’re doing.
With the release of the Rock’s Black Adam, it seems like DC Films is back focusing on what needs to happen. Cavill is back as Superman. Yup, he’s just a teaser, but it’s good enough to tide us over. Of course, now we talk about the future of the Man of Steel.

Part of his return is getting a new solo film. Man of Steel 2? Perhaps not. Sources reveal that Warner Bros. Discovery is considering a shorter, more simple title. One that conveys his evolution from Man of Steel. At the same time, it helps with branding. The title?
Superman.
Geekosity owner Mikey Sutton has initially reported this on Syl Abdul’s YouTube show Scoopcenter.
Yes, that’s it. Nothing else. It’s not Man of Steel 2: Superman or Superman: Man of Steel 2.
Just plain Superman.
If you think that this can confuse some people because there’s already a film called Superman back in 1978 with Christopher Reeve. The original by director Richard Donner is actually titled Superman: The Movie. Yes, you can check that too. Look at the original classic posters, and it is titled Superman: The Movie. Not just Superman.
So Cavill’s Man of Steel sequel will just be Superman. What is it about? Regardless of the title, this is not a reboot of Man of Steel. Nor is it a soft reboot. It will follow the continuity of the SnyderVerse.

The Rock wants to be part of the film. He wants to produce it. He did admit that he’s a Superman fan through and through. As a matter of fact, he’s the one who insisted on getting Cavill back in the suit again. And from what we are hearing, this started six years ago. Cavill’s cameo as Superman was already on the board even before Joss Whedon’s Justice League puked into theaters.
Warner Bros. Discovery does want Zack Snyder to helm the film. Still, so far no one has signed anything. Only that the studio prefers Zack Snyder to return making a proper sequel.
On the other hand, development is early. Thus, they can tweak the title or revert back to Man of Steel 2. Insiders claim WBD prefers the freshness of Superman for now.
