Fans of Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead films will probably enjoy Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

On May 6, we will all get to witness Raimi’s first MCU film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. As Raimi is at the helm, audiences can expect that it’s laden with horror elements. Indeed, the universe truly cracks wide open, allowing creatures to enter with all the horror and abilities they may have.

In other words, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness delivers something new to the table.

Even before Raimi got on board the sequel, it already had to have horror aspects to it. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced that the movie will be the first among horror films for the MCU. Furthermore, Feige now says Evil Dead fans will be happy with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Raimi brought The Evil Dead, Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness into the world. Those movies also have their own fan following. Needless to say, Raimi also led the cameras in showing us Tobey McGuire’s Spider-Man trilogy. Doctor Strange, a superhero now in a horrific situation, practically called for Raimi to be the director. Raimi checks every box on the list.

When asked about the horror aspect of the sequel, the director replied:

It is spooky at some times and scary at others. It’s unknown what you’ll find in the multiverse. It’s within that unknown that suspense and darkness exists. A tool to titillate the audience’s fear. Plus, Doctor Strange in the comics has always dealt in universes and dimensions that were quite spooky, so we tried to bring some of that into this film.

On whether Bruce Campbell shows up at any point in the film, Raimi answered:

I can’t answer that question either. I’m not allowed to.

It’s very uncanny that he could not answer the question with a yes or no. This answer practically tickles the mind and outright teases that Campbell is there. Then again, perhaps he is told not to answer. It’s for the very reason that not answering will just keep the curiosity of the fans aflame.

Touche, Marvel, touche.

Audiences may or may not have been warned. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness needs them to cover or partially cover their eyes from time to time. There will definitely be scary scenes in the movie.

Besides, Doctor Strange said so in Spider-Man:  No Way Home“The multiverse is a concept about which we know frighteningly little.” There is a reason why they put “fright” in what Doctor Strange has said. Raimi reveals it in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
