A new report reveals that a classic kaiju returns in Legendary’s upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong sequel. The MCU’s colossal success continues to inspire others. In fact, every other studio want a slice of the shared universe pie. However, various attempts from Warner Bros., Sony, and Universal ultimately crashed and burned. Nonetheless, there have been a couple that stood their ground alongside Marvel Studios.
One being the MonsterVerse from Legendary Entertainment.
The franchise centers around two of cinema’s most iconic monsters, Godzilla and King Kong. Starting in 2014, both have since featured in their own original solo films.
So far we’ve seen the releases of Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla: King Of The Monsters. In addition, the two titans finally crossed over in 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong. What kaiju will appear in the next one?

This earth-shattering clash between the two kings garnered favorable reviews from critics. Moreover, the movie also grossed over $400 million worldwide during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Without a doubt, the film’s box-office results became an impressive achievement. After all, Warner Bros. released it in theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously. Thus, they green lit a sequel shortly thereafter. The movie will hit cinemas on March, 2024.
But, what is the film about? Well, Warner Bros. and Legendary have released an official synopsis which you can read below as well as our speculation on how it ties into this latest rumor.

Speculation about this “undiscovered threat” has been the biggest talking point amongst fans. In the last film, both Godzilla and Kong joined forces to bring down the powerful MechaGodzilla. What else could bring the former rivals to unite once again?

According to the latest rumor, the cinema icons will go toe-to-toe with SpaceGodzilla in the sequel.
Yes, really.

SpaceGodzilla first appeared in the Heisei era of Godzilla movies. This kaiju is a hybrid of Godzilla and plant DNA.
Furthermore, it’s also been reported that during a battle with Kong, SpaceGodzilla will absorb the giant gorilla’s axe. Kong created the weapon with one of Godzilla’s spikes during the climatic battle with MechaGodzilla.
After absorbing the weapon’s power, SpaceGodzilla will potentially become unstoppable.
Leaving Kong and Godzilla as humanity’s only hope of survival. Even though this is still just speculation it does line up with the sequel’s official synopsis.
Whatever the story may hold, there’s no doubt this’ll be a monster movie for the ages.
