Christian Bale’s Villain Gorr In Thor: Love And Thunder Revealed

Written by Edwin Francisco

The main villain of Thor: Love and Thunder, Christian Bale’s Gorr is again revealed through toy merchandise. Don’t worry, this time it’s not LEGO.

Gorr the God Butcher is the main foe in Thor: Love and Thunder. Christian Bale plays the villainous role. He’s a character who has gone through tragedies in life.

With so much in his life and his love lost, he got angry and didn’t believe gods exist.

And when he realized that they did, he got angrier because of the hardship that he went through. He kept thinking why didn’t the gods help him?

The first time we revealed the look of Gorr was a LEGO minifig. A minifig that didn’t have any resemblance to Christian Bale, but at least we got what he would be wearing. At the time, it was the closest thing we could find to the look of Gorr in the upcoming movie. And it was a bit worrisome for the main reason, the minifig didn’t look anything close to the Gorr we are familiar with in the comics. There was no indication that he is an alien.

In the comics, he comes from a planet without a name. He has these distinct tail-like or tentacle features on his head like Twi’lek’s from Star Wars (like Bib Fortuna and Hera Syndulla). And Gorr’s nose is flat and very close to the eyes. So, with Marvel Studios’ effort of making comics accurate, will his looks translate to Christian Bale’s version of Gorr?

This time, we will be looking at Hasbro’s Marvel Legends’ Thor: Love and Thunder figure line up. And as you know about Hasbro’s Marvel Legends lineup of figures, the detail is incredible.

Two Twitter posts have attached images of the latest Marvel Legends line up. From there you can see the detail and close-ups of Gorr and other characters.

Based on the box art and the toy figure itself, the look of Gorr is quite jarring, especially if you are a fan of the comics. In the comics, he does have a humanoid body, but his looks are very alien, no resemblance to anything human. But in the revealed Marvel Legends toy, he is very human with pale white skin.

What bothered me personally, is that he has a nose. I wish that they made an effort to make Gorr look like Ralph Fiennes’ Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter. But then again, it might be a contract thing that the film needs to show Christian Bale’s face. Or maybe they are trying to stay away from that Lord Voldemort look. It’s just a bit disappointing if Marvel Studios is trying to be comic accurate.

But let’s look at the other positives in this Marvel Legends’ Thor: Love and Thunder lineup. This also reveals Ravager Thor. So, it turns out that Thor joined in with Peter Quill’s old group. Valkyrie is now named King Valkyrie. Also, the series of toys will give you the opportunity to combine Korg.

Anyway, the look doesn’t justify the performance. I’m impressed they convinced Christian Bale to be a villain. I do wonder how Christian Bale will portray Gorr.
