Charlie Cox has opened up on how Marvel Studios’ Daredevil reboot should be. His Daredevil is officially in the MCU now. But that’s just the first step.

The actor has expressed his own take on the deal. As Spider-Man: No Way Home broke box-office records, the world cheered as Daredevil returned.

Charlie Cox has shared what he would like on the table for the reboot. On one hand, Charlie Cox was candid about the possibility of a PG-13 Daredevil.

He admitted:

I wouldn’t put it past the folks at Marvel to be able to accomplish that, I’m such a fan of everything they’ve done so far, I wouldn’t underestimate them at all. So if they wanted to make a more PG version of Daredevil, I back them to find a way to do it where it feels totally in keeping with everything we’ve done. And maybe there’s a little less blood, maybe there’s a little whatever, but I back them to do it.

Still, Netflix’ Daredevil had a considerably darker tone compared to most MCU fare. Furthermore, it was seriously violent. This won’t quite fit in with Disney.

Keep in mind this was before the Netflix Defenders programs were headed to Disney Plus. Those adult shows won’t be edited for Disney Plus. Rather, they’ll be under a parental lock.

In other words, Disney will do the same for Charlie Cox’ new Daredevil program. Indeed, Disney Plus is no longer exclusively family friendly. Nothing a few parental controls can’t fix.

Fans are more excited than ever.

How the writers will treat this new take remains a mystery.

Charlie Cox has a vision on how Daredevil should be treated.

He explained:

My feeling is that the comics work best, the Daredevil comics, for me, are more exciting, readable, relatable when it lives in a darker space. Having said that — and obviously I’m thinking like Bendis/Maleev is probably the best example of that — having said that, and this was actually when this news… I was texting with some of the guys from the show and the text I wrote was, ‘Born Again.’ But having said that, ‘Born Again’ is kind of a PG comic, it’s not in the same world as the Bendis and Maleev stuff. It’s not that dark, and it’s one of the greats.

It’s worth noting that writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Alex Maleev’s take on Daredevil is quite dark. Nevertheless, Charlie Cox prefers they go all the way. He added:

It absolutely can work, but I guess what you can’t deny is Daredevil is never going to work as well in a PG world as Spider-Man does. Do you know what I mean? That’s the point. I think that the age of the character, the Christian guilt, his history with women and stuff… it’s a little bit more mature, it has to be.

All of the Marvel/Netflix shows, including the three Daredevil seasons, arrive on Disney Plus on March 16.
