Deborah Ann Woll Wants To Join Disney Plus’ Daredevil Reboot

Charlie Cox is probably keeping the return of Deborah Ann Woll‘s Karen Page in Daredevil: Born Again a secret. After all, several key cast members of Netflix’ Daredevil series return to their original roles in the upcoming Disney Plus reboot. In fact, Charlie Cox is among them.

Perhaps he took lessons from his Spider-Man: No Way Home co-star Andrew Garfield. Otherwise known as the King of Denial.

At GalaxyCon over the weekend, Charlie Cox discussed his desire to see Woll back as Page. But is he hinting at something else?

Following his guest appearances in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, fans are more than ready for Charlie Cox’ Daredevil to take center stage again. Immediately after the tragic news that Netflix had cancelled Daredevil, panic about the character’s uncertain future ensued.

However, in his earliest days of scooping publicly, Geekosity founder Mikey Sutton revealed on September 16, 2019 that Marvel Studios would bring Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio’s the Kingpin, and Jon Bernthal’s the Punisher back. Indeed, they’re all returning for Daredevil: Born Again.

Certainly, they have essentially become irreplaceable as their respective characters. In addition, they’ll have more prominent roles in the MCU going forward, including appearances in the upcoming Hawkeye Disney Plus spin-off series, Echo.

D’Onofrio surprised general audiences as the Kingpin in the season finale of Hawkeye. He served as the show’s secret main antagonist. Production for Daredevil: Born Again recently commenced in New York City with Cox and D’Onofrio already seen filming on set.

With a major recast and a new origin story for D’Onofrio’s Kingpin confirmed, it’s likely that this’ll be a different continuity from its Netflix predecessor. Despite this, many remain hopeful that the new program will still serve as a continuation of sorts.

The odds of this being the case are sadly minimal. Unfortunately, there’s been no word on whether or not more cast members from the Netflix show will also return. The Hollywood Reporter did claim that neither Deborah Ann Woll or Elden Henson are expected to reprise their roles. But that has the distinct smell of speculation.

Woll and Henson portrayed Matt Murdock’s closest allies Karen Page and Foggy Nelson throughout the entirety of the original show. Both characters were instant fan favorites and became strong staples of Netflix’s adult Marvel series.

Cox’s Murdock and Woll’s Page shared a brief romance during the second season. In the comics, the pair have often been depicted as a couple.

Though much like the show, Matt Murdock has had many romantic relationships throughout his comic-book history. Nevertheless, Charlie Cox believes that Daredevil’s definitive love interest will always be Karen Page.

At GalaxyCon, Cox talked about Murdock and his various relationships.

While answering questions from fans, the actor explained:

“I would like for Matt to continue exploring because there’s a lot of fun stories to tell still… if you’re a true Daredevil fan I feel like there’s no escaping that there’s only one Karen Page.”

It seems that he’s giving us a subtle hint that Page could still appear in Daredevil: Born Again.

Having a Daredevil TV series without the titular hero’s biggest supporting characters would have viewers scratching their heads.

Recently, Vincent D’Onofrio indirectly revealed that a second season was already in the works. While talking to Newsweek, he revealed:

“To give them (the fans) what they want but try to be original in some way at the same time, and so that’s what we’re doing on the show. It’s definitely an original way to look at this, and it’s really deep, really emotional. And, by the second season, there are gigantic, gigantic payoffs—in the first season, too, but I can’t say much about that—but the fans are gonna really get what they want. It’s really quite cool to be doing it.”

So if Page and Nelson don’t appear in the first season, there’s a chance they’ll show up in the second. Whether or not it’ll be Woll and Henson playing them again is still uncertain.

Given their following, it’ll be massive waste to not include them. In addition, recasting serves no purpose with so many major players remaining the same.
