Black Adam producer Hiram Garcia teases long-term plans Henry Cavill’s Superman. While the DCEU made some questionable casting decisions, Henry Cavill isn’t among them. Aside from the late, great Christopher Reeve, Cavill is undoubtedly the most popular Superman.

Unfortunately, former DC Films president Walter Hamada didn’t share this view. Hamada planned to remove Cavill entirely. In fact, Sasha Calle’s Supergirl would replace Cavill. No Superman at all. Unbelievable.

Nevertheless, Dwayne Johnson was having none of it. He ultimately convinced Warner Bros. Discovery to bring Cavill’s Superman back. The actor makes his long-awaited return as the DC icon during Black Adam’s post credit scene. Moreover, it’s already been confirmed that this won’t be a one-off appearance.

Johnson’s Black Adam and Cavill’s Superman inevitably clashes in a future movie. After all, that’s what Black Adam’s post credit scene is leading up to.

In addition, it was recently announced that a sequel to Man of Steel was in early development. Cavill has already signed on to star. Warner Bros. are currently searching for potential writers.

Furthermore, Garcia has recently weighed in on Cavill’s DCEU return. He also revealed that there are long-term plans for Superman’s DCEU future in the works.

While talking to CinemaBlend, Garcia explained:

It’s never been about a one-off or just about a fight, no, it’s about so much more than that. We really want to craft a long form of storytelling and show that these two characters exist in the same universe and are going to have to deal with each other often, either on the same or opposite sides. Hopefully they’re going to clash at some point, but it’s not just about a ‘one fight’ situation. That was never our dream. That does not reward the fans. Fans want to feel a journey between these guys knowing that these guys exist in the same universe.

Going from this, it sounds like there’s finally a plan for the DCEU going forward now that Hamada’s gone.

The revelation that Henry Cavill will be a big part of this plan has greatly increased both interest and anticipation.
