Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Trailer Shows Kang’s Dark Side

The leaked Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer shows Kang’s true dark side.

The trailer itself is no secret. The D23 Expo showed it a few weeks ago. But of course, this hasn’t been made public yet. Now it has, but not the way the studio intended to. One thing: it’s blurry. Second: someone cropped half the video. Possibly because they placed the video recording device at a weird angle. After all, they had to hide it from security. Anyway, we don’t know who released it, but it’s out in the wild now.

It features the entire Ant-Man family: Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), and Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton). It seems like an experiment gone wrong that relates with the Quantum Realm. Janet tries to tell them to stop the experiment. But it’s too late. The Quantum Realm sucks them all in.

From here the video shows a new world or universe. Next, we see Bill Murray who seems to have an old connection with Janet. This doesn’t really sit well with Hank Pym. We see Cassie being captured and escorted. There is a montage of random scenes. This also includes Cassie wearing a suit of her own. But while this happens, we hear Jonathan Majors speaking as Kang the Conqueror. The personality of Kang is terrifying here, which is completely different from He Who Remains from Loki Season One.

Kang looks powerful and frightening. We see Cassie captured and it seems that Scott is, too. As Scott says that he’s an Avenger, Kang answers that he might have killed him before. Kang says he’s killed so many that it’s all a blur. So, this version of Kang has already killed Avengers (more than once), including a version of Ant-Man. This detail alone proves that Kang is more dangerous than Thanos was.

Thus, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania feels more serious than its predecessors.

Kang tells Scott that someone has stolen something from him. Now he needs Scott’s help to steal it back. But Scott doesn’t want to help. Therefore, Kang threatens Scott using some kind of gravitational force. We know that Scott won’t die in this scene because Kang needs him. The trailer ends there. The leaked trailer is already around two minutes long. But even with that length, there are missing details.

The trailer is incomplete. The footage starts in the middle of the trailer. Here are things that happen before the leaked video starts. There should be a scene with Scott enjoying his fame as an Avenger. Strangers recognize him because of Rogers: The Musical. The fictional play included Ant-Man in the Battle of New York.

Another scene is Scott being awarded Employee of the Century by Baskin-Robbins. Last time we saw Scott with Baskin-Robbins, he was fired because of his criminal record. There is also an interesting scene with Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) where they are drinking coffee together. Woo was Scott’s parole officer. There is another scene where Scott and Hope post bail for Cassie. We’re not sure why she was in jail, though.

We wonder if we will see a full version of this trailer soon. This seems like a longer trailer than usual. Most likely that we’ll see an edited version of this.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania opens in theaters on February 17, 2023.
