Another Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Star Hints at Secret Invasion Appearance Elizabeth Henstridge

Another Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. veteran Elizabeth Henstridge, who played Jemma Simmons is rumored to return in Disney Plus’ Secret Invasion.

It’s been a year since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ended. We all wondered if the series will ever connect to the proper MCU.

The show was supposed to be a TV extension of the MCU.

The subtle mentions and Easter Eggs were a fun nod to its connection to the MCU.

In addition, guest appearances from MCU regulars such as Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, and Jaimie Alexander tightened the relationship with its cinematic siblings.

Although not a ratings winner for ABC TV, many fans enjoyed the series.

In fact, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige addressed its following in February.

Feige acknowledged:

I think there are legions of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans.

The program’s ratings issues were part of larger problems.

First, superhero and science-fiction TV shows on three biggest networks don’t fare well with live viewers.

Genre buffs tend to fast-forward ads. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. performed much better on DVR playback where that option was possible.

Secondly, the general public was turned off when MCU icons like Iron Man or Captain America didn’t appear.

When Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. crossed over into Captain America: The Winter Soldier halfway through Season One, the show hit its first high note.

The movie affected the series.

The Hydra takeover of S.H.I.E.L.D. shattered the team.

Unfortunately, many had tuned out already even though it only improved from there.

As years went by, they lessened any links to the original universe it came from.

Nevertheless, the show actually benefitted from its isolation.

It dove into time travel and parallel worlds before the MCU actually did.

Even though the series itself was good on its own, we all still wanted to see if they will ever get to go back.

Feige shattered those expectations when he admitted the previous shows before WandaVision are considered non-canon.

After some time, we learned that Feige will keep what works.

Since Charlie Cox’s Daredevil seems to be being planted in different shows, it may also give some hope that other characters will return, too.

Elizabeth Henstridge played Jemma Simmons in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

At the end of the series, Jemma Simmons and Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) were retired and already have a daughter.

It seemed her role had already ended.

Elizabeth Henstridge just posted in her Instagram lately that she just bought a house in Atlanta with her partner Zachary Abel, but then she is going to England.

Considering that she was born there, going home to England is generally not a surprise.

However, someone in the comments even asked if her character Jemma Simmons was in the MCU.

Henstridge replied with a “silent-but-smile” emoji.

Secret Invasion is shooting in England this month, which was mentioned by Christopher McDonald in an interview with The Movie Dweeb.

The show was originally started shooting back in April 5 in Los Angeles.

Is this just a coincidence, or is she also joining Secret Invasion?

Take note that recently Chloe Bennet (who plays the super-powered Quake in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) left the live-action Powerpuff Girls.

She explained that the slow developments will conflict with her other scheduled engagements.

It was quite strange considering she was in the lead role.

Both Henstridge and Bennet have nothing in their IMDB scheduled, or nothing that is announced.

Therefore, it teases the line of thought with Henstridge going to London.

Bennet leaving Powerpuff Girls seems to be a very close coincidence on its timing.

Is Secret Invasion the real reason?

We are all left to speculate.

All of the known new cast in Secret Invasion are in unannounced roles.

Kingsley Ben-Adir (One Night In Miami), Olivia Colman (The Crown), Emilia Clarke (Game Of Thrones), Killian Scott (Damnation), Christopher McDonald (Hacks), and Noel Fisher (The Red Line) are all confirmed to be on Secret Invasion.

There are no announcements about who they are going to play. The only ones we know are Jackson to reprise his role as Nick Fury and Ben Mandelsohn for his role as Talos.

Marvel Studios has been very secretive on what’s happening with the production.

Is Henstridge’s trip to London a sign of merging Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. with the MCU?

Time will tell.
